Rental Demand Nosedives in London
The number of London landlords currently reporting a rise in tenant demand has dropped to 17%, compared to 45% in the same period last year. By comparison, according to new research, the number of landlords reporting an increase in demand in the South East has risen to 40% in the last quarter - indicating that tenants are increasingly looking to the suburbs in order to escape the high rental costs of the capital.
Just 5% of landlords are now looking to increase their portfolio in London, compared to 15% at the same time last year - whereas the proportion of Landlords looking to expand their portfolio in the North East has almost doubled from 10% to 19%.
